What is Going Green?

Going Green is plain and simple: a new movement to prevent Global Warming. If you don’t know what Global Warming is you probably won’t understand what Going Green is. The following is a short explanation of Global Warming. Global Warming, also known as the Greenhouse Effect, has been an issue since the 1880's and it basically means, there is a gradual increase in the earth's surface temperature because of human activity. Studies show that human emission of carbon dioxide has increased exponentially in the last sixty years which is the main cause of Global Warming. Most people didn’t understand or care about Global Warming until they heard of a carbon footprint. A carbon footprint is what you are personally doing to the Earth’s environment.

After you have your carbon footprint you should now understand why it is important to "Go Green". There are people out there that don’t believe that Going Green will help the climate because the sun is just getting warmer and there is nothing we can do about it. In my research I have learned that the sun’s temperature caused changes in the Earth’s temperature in the past but it is not the case this time. NASA has been keeping track of the sun’s power output since 1978 and in that data the sun's heat has not increased enough for the Earth’s temperature to change significantly. That research shows people of this planet are causing Global Warming.

You might be asking what would you be doing by Going Green. By reading the rest of this website especially the “Going Green at Home” and “Going Green at Work” and "What YOU get from Going Green" you will understand Going Green even more.
